My name is Shirel Benji and I am a fourth-year Communication major with a minor in Jewish Studies. Due to my Jewish identity, I have always had a deep love and passion for the study of Jewish texts, as well as the history of the Jewish people and Israel. I attended a dual-curriculum Jewish high school, and at UCSB, I have utilized the Jewish Minor as a means to maintain my connection to Jewish studies, and continue my Jewish education. The minor has also allowed me to think critically about the Bible’s place within the modern world, and reconcile these questions with the values of Judaism that are instilled within me.
