Welcome to UCSB's Jewish Studies Program

Since 1964, UC Santa Barbara has been proud to offer students courses related to Judaism. These include a myriad of inter-departmental courses, including Hebrew (both Modern and Biblical), Biblical Studies, Rabbinic Studies, Jewish Media, the Holocaust, Trauma and Memory Studies, and much more. In addition to offering an Undergraduate Minor, the Jewish Studies Program is also proud to host public events open to the UCSB community.

Undergraduate students interested in the cultural, historical, and societal development of Judaism are encouraged to consider the Jewish Studies minor.

The Jewish Studies program is fortunate to have instructors from eight different departments throughout the Division of Humanities and Fine Arts at UCSB: the Department of Classics, the Department of English, the Department of Film and Media Studies, the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies, the Department of History, the Department of History of Art and Architecture, the Department of Political Science, and the Department of Religious Studies.
