Professor Emeritus of Education
Professor Blau received his Ph.D. from Brandeis University in 1967. His areas of interest include seventeenth-century literature, rhetoric and composition and English education. He has written numerous articles on Milton, Herbert, Renaissance thought, the development of literacy, the teaching of composition and literature and theory on the composing process. His recent publications include The Literature Workshop: Teaching Texts and their Readers, (Boynton/Cook, 2003) and Writers Craft: Red (McDougal Littell/Houghton Mifflin, 2000). He is currently working on pedagogical theory of literary competence.
